What does Swedish Fish actually taste?
Swedish Fish is in the original form a type of wine gum shaped into a small fish. It's the geniuses behind the Swedish company Malaco who are the creators behind this fantastic piece of candy, but it's nowadays produced by Cadbury Adams for the American market. The fishes/candies are produced in several different colors and flavors, but most people know them best in the color red. Every fish is marked with the word "Swedish" on them and on our own fishies we chose to write Brallor instead.
There's currently a heated debate going on regarding the official taste of these small red pieces. Some claim it to be cherry flavor whereas others are certain that it is raspberry, lingonberries or more of a fruity mix. The truth is that it actually is a combination of flavors that is totally unique for the Swedish Fish, and that is not to be found in any other kind of candy. Malaco is, of course, keeping this secret recipe for themselves and we are mostly happy just to be able to buy them in our local stores.
